It was my first time attending the 'Hi-Aim' conference at the Crowne Plaza Soaltee at Kathmandu and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the attendees were a select group of very targeted and relevant decision makers representing various sectors of the hospitality industry. Being an offsite event, with the participants staying together, it gave ample opportunity for purposeful interaction. The Panel discussions and presentations were very informative as well. Congratulations to the Hi-Aim team for putting this together and I hope to be able to attend more of these in the future as well.

MR. ANURA RATNAVIBHUSHANA

Architect - Colombo. Sri Lanka

At my age (75) it will be hopeful for Sri Lanka (India and the rest of the world) to follow the idea that small is beautiful as you know major architectural and other physical infrastructure projects in our small country will inevitably be against the needs of healing Mother nature. I would constantly wish that any begun in Sri Lanka will be not purely business as usual but small hotel projects - say 20 to 60 rooms spread out geographically. This will ensure the well being of the agricultural hinterland or forests and other natural resources. I recall the author of authentic eco lodges, architect Mehta emphasizes similarly.

MR. M SALEEM BEG

Ministry of Cultural Government of India

It was indeed a rewarding experience to attend the Hi-Aim at Colombo held on 14-16 March. The global concerns about environment and sustainability have been engaging industry professionals and practitioners for quite some time. However hospitality and allied sectors have a long way to go in mainstreaming these concerns. The HI-Aim was unique in addressing these concerns in a holistic manner. The conference deliberated upon the ways to follow sustainable environmental practices from buildings to operations. It was heartening to find an overwhelming response from the participants comprising galaxy of owners, operators and professionals to the array of presentations carefully chosen by the organizers which focused on this issue.
I hope Your organization will strive to take this onerous responsibility further in its broad based engagement with the sector.

MR. M K RAINA

" It was not only an eye opener to the issues that hospitability industries are concerned but the commitment with which you people are pursuing all issues within the zone of development .I really pray that you keep raising the bar of quality of Architecture in this mad race of change and progress so that, whatever new has to happen in this sphere is looked necessarily in a holistic way and not for narrow goals .The unity of any development will have a bright future ,if followed with the vision of preserving indigenous cultures in fusion with contemporary and avant-garde art .
I sincerely thank you for giving me this opportunity in sharing my concerns and suggestion ,which is to include the Art in your regular discourse in mapping the future programmes .
Thanks for everything in enriching my knowledge.

"Ït is always a pleasure being associated with Hi-Aim. The event has within a span of 5 years scaled great heights and has attained a niche position as a comprehensive forum for the various stakeholders within the industry.
The decision to shift the 2016 event to Colombo, Sri Lanka is also commendable, as this provided an opportunity to look beyond the domestic scenario and encompass the growing/emerging regional markets.
The passion, experience and insight of the organizers and Hi-Aim team have resulted in this event becoming one of the 'must attend' conferences in the annual calendar and I am certain that it will only go further in the years to come."

MS. PAULOMI SHAH

‘Was a great interactive and informative session with a chance to meet with key Industry Professionals - bringing well known designers and consultants alongwith vendors on one platform !’

MR. NARENDRA VERMA

Principal Consultant - Hospitality Consultants India Pvt. Ltd.

“The conference this year was very invigorating and was well attended by a cross section of eminent professionals from the Industry.
It was great to meet old colleagues and to share with them the developments that have taken place in the industry over the years and as to how the industry has been influenced by the dedication of the people who have worked hard and strived to bring about change to improve standards and to make it more professional internationally accepted.
The insight given by the team of senior panelists from the industry put forward a lot of ideas and issues that can be further developed, refined and defined for the continuing the growth and development in the industry.
It was very emotional and a sentimental experience to receive the “life time” award having been in the industry for 49 years and having contributed to the changes which have brought about improvements and laid down the criteria for providing Operational Facilities (BOH) in hotels in India. I have always enjoyed working in the industry and am glad that the time was well spent and appreciated by the industry.
It was good to share experiences and to interact with young and new entrepreneurs dedicated to the industry ranging from Interior Designers, Architects, Engineers, Project Management Companies. This also brought about the bon homie amongst the participants. Such congregations go a long way in bringing-about mutual co-operation between professionals and creates new associations for further developments.
It was a good idea to hold the exposition together with the conference as it allowed the participants to see the latest trends and developments in various products that are being made in the construction and building materials and to see how new technology is being brought in the market.”

MR. ANDREW LINWOOD

Head of Design - Areen Hospitality

"I attended the first Hi-Aim Conference in 2012 which I found to be a refreshing change from other conferences in the region, focused as it is on those people and companies with whom we at Areen Hospitality actually do business: architects, lighting designers, MEP consultants and the day-to-day operators of hotels from GMs to engineers and housekeepers. It is also an excellent opportunity to meet potential clients, renew old acquaintances and make new friends!
It is always profitable but above all, a great pleasure to attend Hi Aim."

"Hi Aim was a great conference and I really enjoyed diversity of the participants. It was particularly inspiriting to listen and share different experiences with design and engineering community. These are the people who transform clients dreams into reality and normally have to work hard for years shaping clients wishes, operator’s requirements, code and authorities requirements, cost constrains and many others before the project is completed. I am looking forward to stay in touch with you and hopefully see you again at next year Hi-Aim. "

MR. RISHABH KASLIWAL

Managing Director - Kamal Cogent Energy Pvt. Ltd.

"What was most pleasing to me was the quality of the delegates and the exhibitors. Most delegates were either pertinent hotel operators or owners of one or more hotels. In the exhibitors also, new items were being shown. It was as if each exhibitor had been carefully vetted and given space, so as to keep the delegates interested inside and outside the convention hall."

MR. BABUL KUMAR GANGULY

"I was taken by surprise when I received a call from the Hi-Aim 2014 management that I had been selected to receive an award. For some time I did not take the call seriously. But soon I received another call & then an e-mail, giving me names of other awardees. It was an impressive list. It was then that I took the invitation seriously, and attended the function with my son Rohit Raj who is an Architect. We were both very impressed with the way the award ceremony had been organized. It was a dignified and exquisitely arranged function followed by an elaborate dinner. I managed to meet a number of my old friends and enjoyed their company during the Ceremony & later during the dinner. My Best Wishes for the Hi-Aim-2014 and its future functions.."

MR. S. P. JAIN

“I was very grateful to be a part of Hi-Aim 2014 held on March 26 – 27, 2014 at The Grand New Delhi which was organized excellently.
It was a great experience for me where I could explore new things regarding hospitality industry from the well – known personality from hospitality sector. It was fruitful event as I could experience a good networking.
Wish you all the best for HI-AIM.”

Mr. K. B. Kachru

Chairman Emeritus & Principal Advisor (South Asia) - Radisson Hotel Group

I have been a regular one at attending Hi-Aims and from the very inception, I am one of those fortunate ones who has attended all the Hi-AiMs. Hi AiM has thought of collecting people who actually make the bones of the hospitality industry and how they recognise and interact with each other to make constructive contributions to the industry. The panel discussions are very meaningful and I was very glad to hear that whatever was decided, discussed, deliberated and different stakeholders were told to take action, I believe about 80 to 85% of that has actually been accepted by the industry and it is a big thing. The same thing has happened this year.

Mr. Ajay Bakaya

Managing Director - Sarovar Hotels

I think there is something special about Hi AiM, it’s not the biggest, it doesn’t have the largest attendance, it doesn’t boast of some perhaps very fancy names, but there is a very nice character to Hi-Aim. There is a certain feeling of community, a very close-knit group, a very informal group. It is not really highly structured or scientific in terms of timing, etc. But I see, and this is something I noticed before and something I’ve noticed a lot this time that people are enjoying each other’s company. They are learning from each other and sharing information under a very relaxed environment. It’s a good, close community of designers, architects, hoteliers, and consultants. I would give it full marks.

Mr. Kiran Andicot

Regional Vice President, Hotel Development - Marriott International

I have been attending this conference every year and look forward to it. It provides a platform to owners, operators and a lot of technical consultants to come together and discuss the projects we are working on. Marriott has been supporting the conference, and we will continue doing so. The panel discussions were really interesting, especially the panel discussion on project cost and construction cost and also the discussion on millennials.

Ms. Charu Singh

President - Tourism Finance Corporation of India Ltd.

TFCI has been participating in Hi AiM since its inception and we are very proud to be associated with Hi AiM. Well, I think it's a very well-thought-out two days sessions that were kept. The way the leaders from the market have shared the emerging trends, their thoughts about how the future can be made, it was definitely a wonderful experience and I look forward to the 12th edition as well.

Mr. Nikhil Sharma

Regional Director Eurasia - Wyndham Hotels & Resorts

I think me and team Wyndham Hotels really enjoyed the experience and we would love to be back in the 12th Edition as well. This conference is, if I can use the word a cosy conference. It’s very family-like, and that’s the beauty of Hi AiM, and if you ask me, that essence is extremely important for the conference to go on

Mr. Aniruddh Kumar

Vice President – Development, Accor Hotels

Hi AiM 11th edition was fantastic, and the discussions were really amazing. The kind of knowledge we gained in the last couple of days was fantastic. This is probably the unique platform we have for the design and technical side of the hotel’s development and all kinds of participants are there, be it the architect, interior designer, contractors and vendors. It’s really great.

Mr. Prem Thakur

VP, Technical Services - Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL)

I've been attending Hi AiM since its inception. It has been 11 wonderful years. Hi AiM has been a great platform to meet your industry colleagues, friends, consultants, designers, and partners. You also get to learn a lot of new things as you meet the industry leaders, the veterans, the experts from various fields.

Mr. Anil Badan

Architect - Studio B Architects

It’s very useful. You meet like-minded creative people in the industry. You come to know about the present things happening in the industry. There was also a lot of discussion about sustainability, design, and everything else. Overall, it gives you a good perspective on the industry's current happenings.

Mr. G Gopalakrishnan

Country Director - Asian Paints

Hi AiM is a platform where you invest in future relationships and build bridges. And I think from that point of view, Asian Paints has been able to build that bridge one more brick and take it to the future. Asian paints have been working with Hi AiM for so many years and this time we have been able to, fortunately, be a part of it as a patron partner. We will try and continue our relationship.

Ms. Reema Diwan

Director - Design & Technical Services, India & South Asia - Accor Hotels

I’ve been a part of all Hi Aims. It’s been a very informative and interesting journey. Right from the first Hi AiM to this one. And I think it’s a great forum in which architects, designers, hotel owners, and MEP consultants who understand sustainability and what it takes to build a hotel come together, and it’s sort of like a brainstorming session. Hi AiM has been very instrumental in shaping the hospitality industry because we learn from one another, we know what the pros and cons are, and you don't feel that you're a part of the conference; you feel like you are part of a family.

Mr. Vinayak Saboo

Partner - Paradise Group

I think the sessions were really nice, the Q&A was very interesting and those are the ones which were the most candid conversation that one could have here and to get a pretty deep insight about exactly what is what and what is what not. So, it’s a great way of learning many things you wouldn’t learn otherwise.

Mr. Dorje Gyaltsen Lama

Managing Director - Dusit Princess Kathmandu

It was a very good, knowledgeable experience. I found it very useful, especially the MEP part. You know, usually in Nepal, whenever you think of a brand, you think of fire life and safety, that’s the number one priority. But in Nepal, you also think of earthquakes. So how do earthquake and fire life safety come together as a brand, and especially in MEP, how do you save water, bottling parts. I took down a few notes. I think for my next project, I'll definitely use these tools.

Mr. Sunil Khemani

Founder and Principal Consultant - Aufait International Engineering Studio

It was extremely good. In fact, I’m glad that I made the decision to come. I am also equally thankful to Hi AiM Team for having invited me here as a speaker. It’s really good because so many people from different facets of the industry are here and you get to hear perspectives from different people you know and from different sectors. It’s really educative.

Mr. Amit Gupta

Founding Partner - Studio Symbiosis

I have to say this experience is a little bit better than the earlier ones. Because usually when we have Hi AiM in Delhi, which I have attended a couple of times, everyone comes and goes because of the busy schedule, but being in Kathmandu, everyone is here for a longer period of time, so we get to spend more time informally with them, not just in the conference but also outside the conference, so I think it’s a much more relaxed and a bit more productive Hi AiM than the earlier ones.

Ms. Vandana Saxena

Design Principal - Studio IV Designs, vandana

It was interesting to meet all my industry colleagues, not just from India but from Nepal as well, and I also saw a lot of people coming from Singapore and Hong Kong. Hi AiM was very engaging and a great learning experience as well. I’m a designer, and it was good to see the work of fellow designers, to see the perspective of the brand owners and to also see, you know, where the industry is heading or what the future trends are going to be.
